Stainless steel----Baosteel Special Steel inks deal with Xi'an Sunward Aerospace Material

Baosteel Special Steel Business Unit has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xi'an, Shaanxi Province based Xi'an Sunward Aerospace Material Company as announced by Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group on October 23. Both sides will use their respective strengths to develop nickel lined bimetal composite pipes for oil and gas transmission pipelines.


Baosteel Special Steel Business Unit is participating in block 9 of Sinopec's Tahe Oilfield project and in PetroChina's gas transmission project in Turkmenistan. Accordingly, Baosteel Special Steel Business Unit will supply the abovementioned pipes to both of these projects.


Xi'an Sunward Aerospace Material Company is a subordinate company of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The company is mainly engaged in producing composite materials, macromolecule materials and their products.


Stainless steel----Baosteel DR materials made breakthrough


Confronted with the severe cold and weak demand in steel market, Baosteel strives for breakthrough with the fist products. From January to September this year, Baosteel's output of DR materials has finished 104.76%of the planned annual output, exceeding the entire annual output of last year, in the meantime, the scrapping and downgrading ratio is also reduced by 24.7%yoy and the output and quality improve synchronously.


In respect of capacity enhancement, the Cold-rolled Sheet Plant set out from the enhancement of equipment capacity and operation improvement in key process improvement, solved the bottleneck problems and gradually increased the output. Through the brainstorming of equipment status and optimization of key parts in the line, 4 major lines of Cold-rolled Sheet Plant including No.2 cold rolling line and No.2 tin plating line have all increased the capacity while the thickness specification of the products is reduced, among which the DR material production capacity of No.2 tin plating line doubled its annual level in last year. In view of the sheet passage problem affecting the capacity of key lines, the production site set up the sheet passage coordination task force, improved the operation stability and increased the operating speed of the line by adopting many measures. In view of the sheet shearing problem that affects the overall capacity, shearing capacity improvement plans are implemented in two shearing lines, and the shearing capacity is improved notably. Moreover, in view of the increasing difficulty in logistics management and control brought about by capacity expansion, each department coordinated in a concerted way to optimize the production organization and strengthen collective batch production to ensure smooth process and logistics.


In respect of quality improvement, the Cold-rolled Sheet Plant seized the key indices and key defects, set out from the integral quality control of total process and sought new breakthrough. Since the beginning of last year, the Cold-rolled Sheet Plant has strengthened the quality planning type management, sorted out key topics for project initialization, set up the project team with the coordination by many departments. So far, the indices such as the scrapping and downgrading ratio of DRmaterials, the one shot ratio of contract have registered remarkable improvement, among which, the one shot ratio of contract has improved by 10.7% compared with last year. Meanwhile, the defect management mechanism with customer as the center has been set up. Centering around key products, major defects and the special demands of special customers, technology innovation and mass innovation are actively promoted, the initiatives of all the staff are called on to pay attention to quality and quality improvements. For example, in view of the difficult defects such as cutting watermark, the equipment and process personnels are organized for joint brainstorming, and the unscheduled downtime of equipment is reduced. Centering on the customer's new demands brought about by production technology improvements, the quality control means are further refined, to satisfy the customer's demand as much as possible.
