Aluinum Sheet----Aluminum Alloy Numbers

These numbers ask a selected chemical composition of the Al alloy - the "recipe" of the metal. Pure Al isn't a awfully helpful product in any structural work - Al product nearly while not exception ar made from batches of pure Al mixed with variety of alloying parts that are rigorously given by metallurgists so as to maximise explicit characteristics of the finished metal. as an example, associate Al alloy that's simply extruded, is also troublesome to machine, or associate alloy that machines well, is also troublesome to weld, etc. this is often why there ar therefore might totally {different|completely different} product in such a big amount of different alloys.

The Al Alloys

   Alloy 1100
an occasional strength however terribly possible alloy with glorious corrosion resistance. it's not heat treatable. it's simply welded, but it's soft, and spalls once machined.
1100-O: treated (or "soft", annealed condition)
       1100-H14: Strain hardened

   Alloy 2011
A hard machining, heat treatable alloy, with honest corrosion resistance, however not terribly simply welded.
2011-T3: Heat treated, can cold worked and naturally aged
back to high
   Alloy 2024
Heat treatable with high strength, sensible machinability and honest corrosion resistance. It welds terribly poorly.
2024-O: treated (or "soft", pliant condition)
2024-T3: Heat treated, can cold worked and naturally aged
2024-T351: Heat treated, can cold worked and naturally aged

   Alloy 3003
This alloy isn't heat treatable however welds fine and has superb workability. Like alloy 1100 it's somewhat soft and troublesome to machine.
        3003-H14: Strain hardened
        3003-H22: Strain hardened, part treated

   Alloy 5005
Poor machinability, sensible workability and welds fine. It finishes fine, and offers glorious corrosion resistance.
        5005-H34: Strain-hardened and stable

   Alloy 5052
Strong, not heat treatable, simply welded, with glorious corrosion characteristics.
5052-O: treated (or "soft", pliant condition)
        5052-H32: Strain-hardened and stable

   Alloy 5086
terribly sturdy, not heat treatable, with glorious corrosion resistance and sensible weldability.
        5086-H116: Strain-hardened solely
        5086-H32: Strain-hardened and stable
        5086-H34: Strain-hardened and stable
  back to high
   Alloy 6061
Heat treatable, simply welded,  with superb corrosion resistance and finishing characteristics. terribly ordinarily used for beaux arts product
6061-O: treated (or "soft", pliant condition)
6061-T4: Heat treated and naturally improved
6061-T6: Heat treated and by artificial means aged
6061-T65: Heat treated and by artificial means aged
6061-T6511: Heat treated and by artificial means aged

   Alloy 6063
This kind of heat treatable is specifically designed for extrusions, highly regarded for beaux arts shapes.
6063-T52: Cooled from associate elevated temperature shaping method and by artificial means aged

   Alloy 7050
High strength, glorious corrosion resistence, heat treatable, and weldable, however has poor workability.
7050-T7451: Heat treated, old and strong

   Alloy 7075
Heat treatable, this alloy is that the strongest and hardest Al alloy. it's sensible machining characteristics however isn't terribly easliy welded neither is it terribly possible.
7075-O: treated (or "soft", pliant condition)
7075-T6: Heat treated and by artificial means aged
7075-T651: Heat treated and by artificial means aged
